William C. Barclift brought years of expertise in insurance law to Baxley, Dillard, Dauphin, McKnight & Barclift when he joined the firm in 1997. While serving as General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Liberty National Life Insurance (1984-1997), and Vice President and General Counsel of Torchmark Corporation (1994-1997), Bill guided the companies through some of the most tumultuous years of plaintiff litigation in the insurance industry. He understands the business of insurance and brings skillful representation to all forms of litigation, including class actions and shareholder derivative suits.
Bill graduated from Auburn University in 1972, and the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, cum laude, in 1976. He was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1976. He served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Richard T. Rives, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, from 1976 to 1977.
